A good cover letter should be about one paragraph long. You should start by saying which specific job you are interested in, then touch on your education, and a very brief look into your work history. The best thing to remember is that your cover letter should be a teaser or lead-in for your resume. Don’t give all the information that they will find in the resume. For example, state in the cover letter “I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology”, but make them look at the resume to see where you attended. Same with your work experience. If you have no medical experience, state that you are interested in adding experience to your education in the nursing field. You could also try to make it seem similar to jobs you’ve had in the past. For example, “I believe that my previous experience as a retail associate has helped me relate to people”, etc.
