refer to the job number and job title.. both, so this way, it’s very clear. are you sending an email or a letter?
in the subject line, write Reference job number:#### and job title.
and on a cover letter, just write the same thing somehwere… reference job number#### and title…
I would just write something like, “Hello, I am writing to express interest in the Rocket Scientist position (job #xxxxx),” and go on from there.
