About Me

Hi,

My name is Karen Laramy and I was recently unemployed for over a year, but have just recently landed the job of my dreams.

I am 34 and I got laid off from a job about a year ago where I had worked for over 3 years. It was a complete surprise when my boss came into my office, at the end of another usual day at work, with that uncomfortable look on her face that told me everything she had to say without her even saying a word.

I was working in the real estate industry and as you are probably well aware, just as the rest of the world is, that that industry was and still is being hit majorly hard by the downturn in the economy. Well, needless to say, my boss told me that the company would no longer require my services. She was really upset, but all I could do was smile (I have no idea why, maybe it was a coping mechanism), so while she cried (literally she was crying which made me feel better) I sat there and smiled at her telling her it was no big deal, not to worry about it, it wasn’t her fault she was just doing what the head honcho had asked her to do. Looking back now, I have no idea why I was so calm and why I was the one doling out the comfort, instead of the other way around…but anyway, I digress.

The smiles didn’t last long. After I cleared all of the crap out of my office, I headed straight for the liquor store where I grabbed a 5th of vodka to facilitate my plan of getting completely obliterated and forgetting about everything that had happened that day. That night, while putting my plan into motion, I let out all of the tears that I had held in that afternoon.

Well, after this first fateful day I searched for a job for over 6 months with minimal success, until I found a little piece of software that completely changed my life (literally). But you can read more about this in my last post where I give you the full breakdown of how incredible this software truly is. Now, yes it is a great software, but there also some downsides, so don’t think it’s a perfect solution, but it is damn sure a helpful tool to have in your job hunting arsenal if I do say so myself :) .
